The Inclusive Soundscape Project is a new access-first creative music project developed by Beat This CIC for Disabled and neurodivergent young people aged 13–25 with complex needs.
The project explores how sound, music-making, and creative expression can be made genuinely inclusive when environments, tools, and approaches are designed around the individual rather than expecting young people to adapt to existing systems. Many of the young people we work with face barriers in traditional creative spaces — including inaccessible equipment, sensory overload, and limited flexibility in delivery. Inclusive Soundscape is designed to address these barriers directly through adaptive technology, sensory-friendly environments,
and personalised creative support.
This project has received funding through Cambridgeshire Community Foundation from the Harry Cureton Fund, allowing us to begin delivery in summer 2026. Over the coming year, we will be running small group and one-to-one workshops where participants can explore music-making in ways that work for them. Each young person will be supported to co-design their creative experience, developing a Creative Access Passport to help shape how they engage, communicate, and create.
We are currently in development, preparing adaptive equipment, accessible studio spaces, and session structures that prioritise comfort, independence, and creative ownership.
More details will be shared soon, including opportunities to take part. Stay tuned — Inclusive Soundscape is coming this summer.
