The Vocalize Crew Perform At The Annual Volunteer Awards

Wow, what a year it’s been for the Vocalize Crew who came together as a result of some initial funding bid that Cross Keys Homes put in with Beat This for the High Sheriff Award in early 2012.  Fortunately we were successful in the funding bid, so we sent our skilled Practitioners, Lee Ashton and Skilly Skillz, and also singing coach, Di Nash, to start delivering some beatboxing music workshops, to encourage disadvantaged young people to get o the mic and get vocal.

Little did we all know at that point that they would form The Vocalize Crew and end up performing all over the city at events, for the Queen during her Jubilee celebration last summer and at the high-profile Business In The Community Awards 2012.

As a final farewell to 2012 the Vocalize Crew were asked to perform at the annual Volunteer Awards Ceremony hosted by The Peterborough Council For Voluntary Service (PCVS).  The event was compared by a jovial Ricky Groves (Gary in Eastenders) and saw over 80 people attend, including the Mayor himself.

The Vocalize Crew gave a stellar performance as usual and saw a couple of new members take to the mic.  Singing coach Di Nash was also on stage lending support and Skillz also did his thing too.

Well done to the crew, let’s hope that 2013 will be as monumental for them.  I think I can hear “studio recording” in the distance.
