ARRRREEEEE YYOOOOUUUUU REEEAAADDDDDYYYY for The Lavalamp Lighters?
The band have just released their first proper Music CD this week.
In 2012 Beat This were awarded some funding to support a group of young adults with disabilities form their own live band. The Lavalamp Live project got underway and The Lavalamp Lighters were born!
Last year we consulted with the Lavalamp Lighters about providing further support to their group in helping them with becoming more independent as a band.

Thankfully we were awarded some further funding from Comic Relief through Cambridgeshire Community Foundation to support the band in their progression.
Since October last year they been learning new skills in recording, ICT and forming their own community group or partnership.
They have also been:
+ Recording their 1st studio E.P at Chime Creation Centre,
+ Learning how to produce the artwork and design for their CD,
+ Organising live gigs for 2014/2015,
+ Designing a poster for their upcoming live gigs,
+ Learning about how to use social media positively and promoting
their band and future gigs.
Most importantly the band have formed a volunteer-led music committee and will be learning about handling their own finances, recruiting and managing volunteers, setting their own policies and procedures in place, applying for funding and sponsorship and much more, with a view to possibly organising events and gigs for the band and potentially other disabled musicians in the city of Peterborough.
Keep your ears open and your eyes peeled for the Lavalamp Lighters E.P.
